Building Connections: yCrash at Westpac Sydney

At yCrash, we believe that meaningful relationships are built not just through technology, but through genuine human connection. Recently, we had an opportunity to strengthen one such relationship, when our Senior Software Engineer, Unni Mana, traveled to Australia on a personal visit. Since one of our valued clients, Westpac, is based in Sydney, we reached out to see if Unni could stop by for an in-person session. They said that they’d be delighted to meet with our team too.

When we told this to Unni, despite his own travel plans, he immediately agreed. This was not a surprise because, we’re proud to say that yCrash values culture and commitment to our customers deeply. We must say that this trip ultimately brought both the teams closer together.

POC at Westpac

Unni took a short morning flight from Adelaide to Sydney to meet the Westpac team. Praveen, our point of contact at Westpac, had shared clear directions beforehand, which made the journey effortless for him. Even though Unni reached a little earlier than planned, Praveen made sure he felt at ease. He welcomed Unni warmly and took him to the cafeteria for a light breakfast, and introduced a turmeric-laced latte to Unni, which he enjoyed for the first time.

Since Praveen had another meeting to attend before the scheduled 11:30 AM session, he encouraged Unni to take a quick look around the city, and left him to it.

Lunch With the Westpac Team

As the meeting time approached, Praveen returned and introduced Unni to his team, around 7 to 8 members. The group immediately slipped into friendly conversation, discussing yCrash and how they’ve been using our tools, all the way to the restaurant they had chosen for lunch, which was sponsored by yCrash.

The team had picked a Pakistani restaurant, and they opted for a buffet-style meal. Apparently Unni had had a couple of light meals on the way to the restaurant, and so was not very hungry when they arrived. So he just had some biriyani and salad to go along with.

During lunch, the conversation turned to Unni’s background and his experience. This team is the one responsible for using and managing the yCrash tool at Westpac, so the discussions naturally flowed around their day-to-day use and the value our tools bring to their work.

The Main Event

Praveen, being a big admirer of Ram, thanked him warmly for the sumptuous meal he and his team enjoyed. With lunch wrapped up, it was time for the main event.

Discussion Highlight

The technical session was scheduled for 1.5 hours, and the entire team gathered on the 22nd floor of the Westpac building. A couple of members joined remotely as well. Praveen had already shared a clear outline of what the team was looking for, and Ram planned his session around those expectations.

Praveen began the session by walking Ram through how he has been using the yCrash tool within Westpac. His detailed explanation helped set the right context, and the team quickly became more engaged as they related it to their own day-to-day challenges.

One of the first questions the team raised was about M3, specifically how they could automate the continuous collection of artifacts, something Praveen currently handles manually. This topic gained immediate interest across the room.

Ram then explained the high-level functionality of 360° Capture, breaking down how it simplifies troubleshooting and gives a complete snapshot of the system during failures. His explanation helped the team understand how these features tie together to reduce manual effort.

Key Takeaways for the Westpac Team

The feedback from the team was very positive. They shared that the session helped them understand GCeasy, fastThread, and 360° Capture in a clearer way. Several members expressed that the explanations helped them connect the dots between the issues they face daily and how yCrash tools can simplify their troubleshooting process.

Anuj from the Westpac team highlighted a key takeaway, that many of the tasks they currently perform manually could be automated with the help of our tools. And honestly for us, this was wonderful to hear because empowering engineering teams to reduce manual effort has always been one of our core goals.

Overall, the team felt that the session was informative, practical, and aligned well with the challenges they deal with. Their engagement, questions, and feedback made the entire interaction meaningful for us as well.

Connection Strengthened

After the session wrapped up, the Westpac team took Unni to the terrace of their building, offering him a beautiful panoramic view of Sydney. Praveen then accompanied him downstairs, and the two spent a few minutes at a nearby café chatting about the day, the team, and the experience overall. During the conversation, Unni said that the Westpac team suggested that he should definitely go to the Opera. Overall the conversation added a personal touch to an already warm interaction.

Unni later shared that, “Praveen was incredibly friendly and approachable. It felt less like meeting a client and more like catching up with a colleague.”

With his return flight scheduled for the evening, Unni thanked Praveen once again for the hospitality and the time he had taken to bring everything together. On his way back to the airport and back to Adelaide, Unni was actually carrying with him both the conversations and the connections built throughout the day.
